Great Shelford history

A Record of Shelford Parva

Stunning paintings and drawings from the Shelfords more than 100 years ago feature in a major new exhibition at Stapleford Granary.

The free exhibition, Fanny Wale: A Record of Shelford Parva, starts on Thursday June 26 and runs until the end of August.

A selection of the drawings and paintings from the book have been enlarged, printed and framed, and these will be available for viewing and can also be purchased.

It has been launched to accompany the re-publication of the book, A Record of Shelford Parva.

The book contains Fanny's charming and skilful drawings and paintings, alongside historic photographs of Little and Great Shelford and a detailed text, akin to the Diary of an Edwardian Lady.

On Sunday 29 June at 11:00am, local historian and villager and Granary trustee David Martin will be in conversation with Kate Romano in the foyer bar talking about his extensive role in the first (2013) and second (2025) publications of the book.

The original copy of A Record of Shelford Parva is kept in the Cambridgeshire Archives.

Copies of the new edition of the Record of Shelford Parva, published by Galileo Press, will be available to purchase (£30) at the event.

Exhibition opening times

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm | Wednesday - CLOSED | Saturday 9:00am - 3:00pm | Sunday 10:00am - 3:00pm
